    IVY STUART

ivy had not traveled since she first moved to united states as a child, so she wasn't exactly sure how much packing was needed for a cross-country road trip. she looked questionably at her single duffel bag, but decided it would be enough; if she needed anything else, then she would just purchase it somewhere along the way. her youngest sister, genevieve, was still in ivy's bed, and every so often she'd hear a light snore coming from the eight year old. ivy had decided so say all of her goodbyes last night, which was a good idea on her part as some of her siblings didn't react the kindest. the twins, alexander and william, supported the trip wholeheartedly. they had started to grasp how much responsibility ivy held, and they wished for her to enjoy her summer without worrying so much about her siblings. lillian was a little upset that that her sister would be gone for so long, but, as long as she promised to stayed in touch and sent lots of pictures (mostly ones with or of hunter, as she has begun to take quite a liking to him), she said she would be alright and she wants her to have fun. geneivive, on the other hand, threw the biggest tantrum ivy had ever seen. genny was known to be a bit of a brat sometimes, but she had never been acted out like that before. It had went from screaming, to crying, to screaming, to crying, to silence, to crying, and, finally, to acceptance. they had fallen asleep cuddled up in ivy's twin sized bed, and ivy was thankful when she hadn't awoken her with the alarm she had set for this morning.

she turned away from her belongings and examined herself in the large mirror that sat above her dresser. she was donning the light blue bib overall shorts that she wore every summer with a white, soft cotton t-shirt. ivy had grown a bit taller over the years, now standing at about seven inches over five feet, and the bibs now hung loosely near the top of her thighs, exposing her pale, thin legs. she looked clothes over once more before moving her gaze upward to her frizzy, fiery mess of hair. she reached up a slender hand and raked it through the mess of curls. it was meant to be quite humid today, so she had sprayed a ton of hairspray while getting ready this morning to try to keep the girls under control. she closed her eyes for a moment and let out a long sigh, silently reminding herself that the trip was a great idea.

ivy's socked feet padded softly against their polished wood floors as she walked down the hallway, making her way to their conjoined living room and kitchen. when she entered the room she was met by lillian, who was splayed out on the sofa, her lithe legs kicked up onto the arm and an opened book in her hands. she seemed quite into whatever she was reading, her dark brown locks partially blocking ivy's view of her face, and she didn't look up as her sister walked past. "what are you reading?" ivy inquired as she moved towards the loveseat that sat adjacent to the couch.

lillian looked up at her, her features slightly lighting up as she responded, "coraline! it's about a girl who finds a door in her new house that takes her to a different reality! it was cool at first, but there's these people that look like her ma and pa, and they want to keep her there forever! it's a little scary. do you think we have any doors like that in our house?"

a soft chuckle escaped from ivy's lips as she listened to her sister, "that sounds like a very interesting book! we don't have any doors like that here, though, lil." she plopped down onto the smaller sofa, seating her packed bag in the empty space beside her, and began slipping on her shoes. "where are the boys?"

"that's a relief," the child replied, returning her attention back to the book. "and i think they went over to xavier's house. alex likes his sister." xavier is one of alexander and william's school friends. he often comes over after to hang out with the boys, but recently they've been going to his house more instead.

"interesting." ivy responded, already aware of her little brother's secret crush. the girl was almost five years older than him, so she wasn't too concerned about what they were doing, though she wasn't looking forward the the dreaded 'talk' she'd soon need to have with the young males. ivy pulled her cellphone out of her pocket before leaning back into the loveseat, allowing herself to be comforted by the soft suede as she checked her messages for any notification as to when they would be arriving. she hadn't received any new messages from the group, so she simply decided to scroll through her instagram feed as she patiently waiting for their arrival.
